Brr It’s Freezing in P1❄️

7th Feb 2020

We have loved sharing different story books related to our topic Brr It’s Freezing. We read The Snowman by Raymond Briggs then sequenced pictures from the story. We are getting better and better using scissors! ☃️ We made our own snowmen and snow girls. We wrote our names on our snowmen then counted how many letters in our names. In groups we compared who had the longest/shortest name or who had the same number of letters. Caireann has the longest name with 8 letters! Erin, Nyla, Moya, Naya and Ruby all had the shortest names with 4 letters! At the end of the story the snowman melts. We explored how water freezes to make ice and how ice and snow melts back to water.

Then a present 🎁 appeared in our classroom for a boy called Ben. Over break an animal escaped from the present! It left clues behind - feathers, ice, a book about polar animals and a map of the South Pole. We guessed it must be a penguin! Then a penguin appeared with a new story book for us - Penguin by Polly Dunbar. 🐧
