The Primary 4 children had a lovely treat today when Yang from the Culture Quarter came to visit. She told us all about the Chinese New Year that was celebrated on Sunday 10th February. Yang decorated our class with beautiful red and gold decorations. Yang explained what the different decorations mean. Yang wrote some Chinese words on the whiteboard. We found out about the traditions of the Chinese people. We watched the video on the story of Nina. Yang talked about dragons and explained that this year is the year of the dragon.
We were all given a little red envelope with a chocolate coin inside. This is to represent luck and good fortune for the coming year.
