Important Information-Monday 3rd June 2024

3rd Jun 2024

Dear parent/guardian,
After some uncertainty over the weekend, we have been told that there will be canteen service tomorrow Tuesday 4th June which is great news.

SPORT’S DAY 2024-Friday 7th June 2024 (weather permitting)

We are looking forward to our annual Sport’s Day. It has always been a memorable day where we can all come together and enjoy good company and cheer the children on.

As you know we have planned our Sport’s Day for Friday 7th June 2024.

In the absence of a crystal ball, this calendar date is always weather dependant but according to the BBC weather forecast, it is expected to be a mixed bag of sun and rain. We are hopeful it will go ahead as planned as we know family and friends have taken time out of work to come along and support the children.

Should Friday morning be a ‘washout’, we will send a message out via the website. If it does not run on Friday, it is expected that we will run it on Monday 10th June or the first dry day thereafter. I would encourage you to keep a look out for messages with updates or changes. These will be sent via the website and should reach you on your phone through the Schools NI App. If you are not receiving messages, please update your notifications.

It is disappointing that some of our P7 boys have been asked to attend St. Columb’s College on Friday. If possible, could I ask parents to contact the college and ask if the boys could attend at a later/time or date?

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT SPORT’S DAY 2024?

In advance of Sport’s Day, I wanted to share the following information:

  • Sport’s Day races will begin at 9.30am approx. and will finish at 12.00pm.
  • The children will be given their lunch at 12.00pm and all children will go home at 1.00pm. If not yourself, please tell the person who collects your child.
  • The lunch will be a picnic style so can be taken home if you wish to take your child at 12.00pm. Please let the class teacher know.
  • If your child usually takes a packed lunch and wishes to have the picnic style lunch, please send in £2.60 to order a lunch.
  • Sport’s Day will take place on the bottom playground. You may wish to park at the entrance to the Shepherd’s Glen gate for ease of access.
  • Families and friends are welcome to attend.
  • Dogs/Smoking/Vaping are not permitted inside the school grounds.
  • Refreshments will be available for families and friends at a small cost in the assembly hall. (10.30am-11.00am)
  • Your child will be part of a HOUSE TEAM so has been asked to wear a specific-coloured t-shirt. Ask your child what his/her colour is.
  • Please apply sun cream and provide a sun hat to protect from the sun.
  • The children will remain with their class and under the supervision of the class teacher throughout the Sport’s activities. This is the best way to safeguard the children and keep everyone safe.
  • The toilet facilities for adults in the school will be signposted. Adults are not permitted to use the pupil toilets.
  • Clubs will not run on Sport’s Day.
See you all on Friday.
Mrs Bacheta and staff.
