P6 World Book Day: Malala’s Magic Pencil

7th Mar 2024

As you know we are working towards achieving our School of Sanctuary status this year, so we decided as a school to link it to World Book Day. Our focus for this year has been the stories of refugees, so for Primary 6 we decided to watch the story of Malala’s Magic Pencil. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ti8sirjR1C8 It is based on the life of Malala Yousafzai who is a refugee from Pakistan who was wounded on a school bus by the Taliban after speaking out against their regime.

The children were fascinated by Malala's story and her campaign to ensure all girls are afforded an education. We researched her life using Chromebooks and completed a biography of her life. She is an inspirational role model for us all.
