Primary 2 Week 5 Home schooling

1st May 2020

Hello boys and girls, you made it through another week of home school, congratulations!

I love to hear about all the different learning experiences you are having both inside and outside your home. You are always giving me new ideas and it is great we can share these with each other!

I know it can be hard to revise your key words but why not try and make them into a game? Pick maybe 10 words that you are not too sure of just yet. Write them on 10 small pieces of paper, then write them again on another 10 pieces of paper. Turn the paper face down on the table. Then with a partner you can play the pair game, just like we did with the penguins in the playroom. This is a fun game and can be played with anyone in your family. It will help you recognise your words. You can make the game more difficult adding extra words too. Have a look at Lainey's picture to see how she is playing the game. Also take a look at Oliver's pictures. He has out his whiteboard marker and pen, then he uses his sound pack to put his sounds together and writes down the words.

Keeping up your reading, it is so important too boys and girls. I love to hear stories about the children who are reading to their younger brothers and sisters, like Rory and Emma in our class. This is such a lovely thing to do and i'm sure your parents would be impressed too! The books can be story books, comics, annuals or even magazines. There is a super website the adults can login to for you called oxfordowl.co.uk you may recognise some of the faces from your Oxford Reading Tree books. I was just thinking today how much we all love Magic Key too on Fridays, but guess what, the episodes are on YouTube for you to watch (with your parents permission of course!)

I have asked that you try and send me an email too next week, just so that I know your emails are working ok. Some of you have already sent some messages, they made me smile, so thank you!

Have a look at pictures from Oliver, Harvey, Lainey, Finn, Niamh and Blaithin this week.

We have a new chef in the class, Harvey. Have a look at his yummy pizza, I may ring for an order! Oliver is also in the kitchen making delicious rice crispie buns! Oliver also used some toilet roll holders and cereal boxes to make junk art this week ,I thought that was a clever idea!

Blaithin has been super busy again painting, doing number work with counting coins, making pizzas like Harvey and gardening! This term we would have been planting seeds called nasturniums as they grow very quickly. I was so pleased to see Blaithin planting and hopefully she will keep us up to date on how her flowers grow.

Niamh has been making a snakes and ladders game! This is not the first time Niamh has brought a game she made into class. Look at the details, I'm sure this took a very long time, brilliant work!

Thank you for staying in touch. I love to hear about you all. I was shopping in Sainsbury's during the week and seen dress up costumes on sale, one of the costumes was of Harry Potter. Can you guess from the photographs who it made me think of?

Take care and talk soon

Mrs Kyle :)
